"Our afternoon workshops will allow us to indulge in deepening our studies into yogic philosophy and asana technique.
"We will examine some of the gems of yogic vedanta philosophy and how they can be understood within the broader context of our modern often frenetic lifestyles, as well how they can be internalised to provide a source of real meaningful comfort and respite during the high as well low points of our day-to-day lives.
"We will break down into easily accessible stepping stones some of the trickier poses from the Intermediate Series of Ashtanga, including the Eka/Dwi Pada Sirsasana poses (one or both leg(s) behind head) and the Tittbhasana (Firefly) sequence of poses, the Mayurasanas (feathered and regular (aka forearm stand!) peacock versions) and beyond!
"We will also explore alternative variants of and entrances into/exits from the poses from outside the Ashtanga system. All levels of experience and familiarity with the poses will be both supported and challenged".
Workshops: Splits and Backbends; Leg Behind Head; Inversions; Arm Balances; Philosophy. A lot of time will be spent on drills and preparations so it doesn’t matter if we get to the final splits/leg behind head or not. Lisa says you can also ‘Watchasana’!
