Restorative Yoga For The Real Yoga Rebel

Dear Yogis,

OK. I get it! When England play in the World Cup, no one wants yoga! (I think next Wednesday’s class might be in peril if that is true). Plus, it’s excessively hot! Don’t worry! Classes are inside where the ceiling fans are!

Tomorrow, Friday evening (26th), is the second instalment of Restorative Yoga. It is a divine way to wind down after a scorching and exhausting week. It’s an important branch of yoga. Restorative yoga can help with health conditions like joint pain and arthritis, chronic fatigue, and anxiety.

I was checking my notes from my recent training with Anna Ashby and she said some profound things about the value of a Restorative Yoga practice. “How do we find deep joy and worth in a time of change? The practice allows us to free ourselves and create space for something new to arise”. Nice, eh!

I like this quote from Ashby: “Restorative goes against the grain of constantly doing, achieving, moving, going. It invites you to be still. The body moves from a heightened state of stress to a calmer baseline”. That’s got to be worth doing!
