This blog gives a view of yoga from a student’s point of view. That’s me! I have been teaching since 2012 but always a student. I love being part of the yoga world and continually learning. I write about the top teachers, the yoga shows and festivals, the studios and workshops, and the promise of yoga’s self discovery. In this blog I include retreat information, workshop recommendations and Yoga In The News.

Read MoreAre teachers on Zoom skipping Savasana? Christmas this year has the crazy addition of home-alone-for-all and so Savasana has added importance. It’s especially important to take this time for yourself at the end of class and even, during the day, to take your own break-up-the-day Savasana. Experience nothingness: no shopping, cooking, working, travelling or any obligations… perhaps no celebrating even!
Read MoreI’ve been asked to teach Desk Yoga for a corporate class. It’s a smart request. Not everybody has a yoga mat but everyone has a chair and some kind of desk that can be pressed into service! There’s a saying: as many living beings are there, that many asanas are there. When I finally put together a teacher training course, Chair Yoga (which is what Desk Yoga boils down to) will definitely be part of it.
Read MoreIt’s the time of year for sinuses! Y'know... the point of sinuses is to produce mucus which forms a barrier against pollutants, dust, and micro-organisms. My nose is on another journey entirely, reaching its peak in spring by inviting in various pollens! And, y’know, yoga, the clever-clogs, has an answer!
Read MoreIt’s been a year since the very first cases of coronavirus. Our lives were about to change and we were blissfully unaware – like the poem says: ‘Time held me green and dying, Though I sang in my chains like the sea’. Last year was ‘green’! Evening classes were snippets of a party and everything was fun positive.

As usual I’ve been thinking about back ache. The Standard said recently: ‘If you didn’t emerge from lockdown with a sore back, a cricked neck, a gammy leg, an aching hip, a stiff shoulder… then truly, you are one of God’s chosen children.’

How nice to have a celebration of removing inner darkness and negativity, starting afresh, having patience, sharing sweetness… The perfect posture for removing inner darkness and for Lock Down is…
Read MoreWell! We’re in Lock Down again. How do we keep an even keel? Many people used the last house arrest to achieve something, start something, change something, take stock, review direction… any or all of the above. No? Me neither! Well, we have a second chance.
Read MoreThe more familiar you get with yoga, the more sensitive you become to your inner landscape and the more tuned in you’ll be to the outer surroundings and your reaction to them. If your room is cluttered, if the lighting is unhelpful, if the very fact of Zoom’s electronic waves zaps your energy, that’s because the Feng Shui is wrong and it can be fixed.
Read MoreDear Yogis,
I have to laugh when I think how people may excuse themselves from yoga because they can’t touch their toes. No one offers the excuse that they can’t walk around in crab as they used to in the primary school playground. That’s the better goal.

Yoga to enjoy! Good Times Yoga!
I always read your emails and am uplifted, this one I had to recognise as very special.
“So enjoyed Tuesday’s stretchy session – such a good way to end the day – thank you 😊”
“Yoga is so misunderstood and you gave me the insight to interpret myself and give me more self understanding. Some might say ‘peace'“.
“I love your Friday email, it is really uplifting!”
“I look forward to reading your email, always a font of knowledge and food for thought. Just wanted to thank you for the thought you put into our classes and Friday newsletter.”
“Just read your email and, as usual, it’s lifted my spirits as well as acted as a reminder to take care of myself too. ”
“Thanks again for another enthusiastic practice. You really come over as upbeat and I urge you to keep this up for the sake of all your yogis during these tough times!”
“I love the Ashtanga class and will try to do both this week. It’s odd practicing alone to a screen and not being in a studio with others, but this is just another adjustment to our new lives! Thank you so much for offering these free classes.”
“I really don’t want to miss out on your wonderful sessions. At the moment the internet is acting like it has a whole new obstructive personality disorder and doing just weird stuff.”
“I’m sorry to keep showering you with positive feedback, but ... I particularly enjoyed this week’s email. It’s inspired me to practice a little more yoga this morning. Your Friday emails kickstart my weekends!”
“I’ve been meaning to say for a while that I’m amazed you manage to create such fresh, interesting and varied blogs week after week for years now. Thank you.”
“I can honestly say there have been weeks when your Friday Email has been the only sparkle of light”
“You are truly a yoga poet! Great newsletter, which I’ve just enjoyed over a coffee. Thanks for all the work you put into it and your inspiring language.”
“This is beautiful writing.”
“I still can’t tell you how much I love these emails each week; they are food and thought for the soul.”
